Emily Elizabeth Oldham, originally from Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, has been passionate about music for as long as she can remember and has studied the violin since the age of five. She entered the College of Charleston in 2019, where she pursued studies in music and violin performance under the guidance of Charleston Symphony Orchestra Artistic Director and Concertmaster Yuriy Bekker and Professor Tomas Jakubek. After graduating in 2023, she was accepted into the College of Charleston’s highly selective two-year Post-Baccalaureate Artist Residency Program, allowing her to continue advanced musical training and performance studies.
Emily has participated in masterclasses and performances with world-renowned artists including Sarah Chang, Augustin Hadelich, and Herbert Greenberg. For the past three summers, she attended the Shkolnikova Academy in France, studying with members of the New York Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony, and Los Angeles Philharmonic, along with other internationally recognized, award-winning musicians. As an Assistant Concertmaster of the College of Charleston Orchestra, she has performed in some of the world’s most prestigious venues, including the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, and Boston Symphony Hall.
In addition to organizing chamber music concerts and performing for weddings and special events, Emily is active in community outreach through the Arts in Healing program at MUSC and is dedicated to music education, teaching young students at Meeting Street Academy through the Charleston Academy of Music.
